SQA Get into Gear Module

Take up a new opportunity to become a qualified education partner available to all those who provide road safety education for young drivers with the new Get into Gear SQA RoSPA accredited module. Having accredited training enables you to be fully equipped and provides you with the skills and knowledge for an evidence informed YDI.

Who can take the qualification?

The Get into Gear SQA level 6 core module will be suitable for candidates with a professional or personal interest in road casualty reduction and gives candidates an opportunity to look at issues for young drivers. Outcomes require candidates to demonstrate a strong understanding of young driver issues. Candidates who achieve this unit will have the ability to plan and deliver effective educational interventions aimed at young people, families, schools and communities.


  • Use reliable research and statistical information demonstrate an understanding of the main young driver issues
  • Plan and deliver a presentation giving the findings of research relating to young driver behaviour.
  • Plan and carry out an intervention in your own area that encompasses partnership involvement including parents and schools
  • Prepare a young driver intervention evaluation using a respected evaluation toolkit such as EvalUIT
